January 2008
This has been a busy month in the recording studio. First, clarinet concertos by Gerald Finzi, Carl Davis and Graham Fitkin with clarinettist David Campbell and Aurora Orchestra, and then Bach's Violin Concerto in A minor with the Senesino Players.

January 2008
Thomas gave the world premiere of 'Seeing is Believing', a Concerto for Electric Violin and Chamber Ensemble by American composer Nico Muhly with Aurora Orchestra and Nicholas Collon. Listen to the live performance
here. Further performances are planned with Aurora at the Wyastone Festival, and with Sinfonia ViVA and Andre de Ridder in Nottingham.

December 2007
Thomas has been picked by The Evening Standard as a 'Rising Star for 2008'. Fiona Maddocks writes, "A boyish 24-year-old violinist from Hampstead is taking the orchestral world by storm, as leader of the edgy Aurora Orchestra and co-leader of Britten Sinfonia." Read the whole article here.

Thomas gave the premiere of 'Three Night Pictures' by Graham Williams at Rhyl Music Club. Further performances will take place in Farnham, Witney, Whitby and Luton.

Thomas has been appointed leader of Manning Camerata.

September 2007
Thomas performed live improvisations at London's Serpentine Gallery on a specially designed electric violin made by Hans Johannson. The violin was connected to freeform hollow wooden resonating sculptures, and is part of an ongoing project fusing art, architecture and traditional instrument making. Click here for a photo.

Thomas is the recipient of an award from the Hattori Foundation. The award will go towards the commission of a new concerto for electric violin by American composer Nico Muhly. The premiere will take place with Aurora Orchestra at the Royal Academy of Music on January 7, 2008.

Thomas has been selected to take part in the Verbier Festival Academy from July 17 to August 5 where he will receive coaching from Zakhar Bron, Ana Chumachenco and Gabor Takacs-Nagy.

Thomas travelled to Sweden to stand in at 48 hours' notice for an indisposed Augustin Dumay in a performance of Beethoven's Violin Concerto with the Gävle Symfoniorkester conducted by Robin Ticciati.

Thomas is a finalist in the Abstract Securities Landor Competition. The final round will take place on November 21 in Cadogan Hall, London.

Thomas has been appointed co-leader of Britten Sinfonia.

Thomas is featured in the Launch Pad of this month's issue of The Strad magazine.

Thomas has been nominated as a candidate for the prestigious Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.

Thomas has recorded two works for voice, violin and organ by the Belgian composer Joseph Jongen. The CD, which includes other choral works by Jongen as well as by Flor Peeters, will be released on the Hyperion label.

June 2006
Thomas has been invited to play the 'Viotti' Stradivarius, one of the most highly prized violins in the Royal Academy of Music's collection, for a private concert attended by the Duchess of Gloucester.

May 2006
Thomas has been selected for representation by YCAT following public auditions in the Wigmore Hall. The YCAT Presentation Concert will take place in the Purcell Room at 7.45pm on September 25, 2006.

April 2006
Thomas has been offered a full evening recital in the Purcell Room by the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund. This will take place at 7.45pm on May 2, 2007.
